M&E Maintenance Operations Manager

We have a new role for an M&E Maintenance Operations Manager to join a client side Estates team within a leading Higher Education institution, based in central London. If you have your electrical or mechanical qualifications, M&E management experience of managing a team of engineers, and have also been responsible for a variety of minor works projects, then this is the role for you! You will be working for a well established University, in the heart of academic London, and be reporting to the Deputy Director of Estates. As this is a Public Sector role, in addition to a starting salary of between £55,000 - £58,000 you will receive a generous benefits package including:

This is a static role is based in central London with the working hours of 8-4 Monday to Friday, which is a 35 hour week and is based on site, 5 days a week. 

Within this M&E Maintenance Managers role you will be responsible for the provision of all hard services to the University, based in central London. Working client side you will lead a team of in house engineers, making sure they perform their PPM and reactive duties to maintain the buildings. You will also be responsible for running an exciting portfolio of minor working projects and managing contractor relationships. This role will involve:

  • Managing a directly employed team of engineers day to day in their maintenance duties
  • Being responsible for minor works projects across the Estate
  • Contractor management
  • Managing budgets and forecasts 
  • Building regulations, compliance and health and safety
  • Process improvement and working with the Heads of departments to achieve the overall Estates teams goals 

This is a hands on and varied M&E Managers role for a qualified electrical or mechanical engineer who has moved up into building services management and who has project management experience within building services. This role would suit someone who has worked either for a contractor, or for an in house team within a similar sector previously. Experience of managing building services within Listed buildings would also be looked on highly. Experience of working within the public sector or HE would be advantageous, though not essential.

For this M&E Maintenance Operations Manager role we are looking for:

  • Full electrical or Mechanical qualifications - Level 3, 16th/17th/18th edition (This is essential please only apply if you have these qualifications)
  • Comprehensive electrical maintenance knowledge 
  • Experience of managing a team of M&E engineers directly
  • Considerable knowledge of building services regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience of managing minor works projects
  • Experience of managing contractors
  • Experience of budgets and forecasts
  • Experience of CAFM systems 
  • IOSH/NEBOSH 
  • Happy to work on site 5 days per week
