We are recruiting for temp to perm Maintenance Assistants for a well-established In-House Estates division based in the heart of Uxbridge. 

Our client is a Top-Ranking world Top 500 University.  This is a unique time to join this Estates Division, as they look to offer a number of training places for motivated Operatives who, after completion of a successful probation period, can go onto enhance their skills and qualifications within the world of building services maintenance.  A 10 day training course will be provided to all new operatives subject to successful completion of probation. The opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship is also an option if the roles goes permanent (based upon business needs), to upskill in a maintenance related trade subject to successful completion of any other University requirements.

As Maintenance Assistant, you will be working as part of a team supporting qualified Tradespersons in their duties. You will enjoy a varied range of daily tasks on the campus such as:

 

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of building services and systems
  • Focusing on training within Fire Door Inspection, Maintenance and Installation
  • Undertaking checks and testing on building systems
  • Basic electrical duties such as lamp changes
  • Basic plumbing duties
  • Carpentry duties and general fabric tasks
  • Working in accordance with health and safety legislations
  • Using a CAFM system and PDA device
  • Offering first class customer service at all times  

If you are looking for a busy, multi skilled role, where you will have the opportunity to support a variety of trades and focus on fire safety within building services, this is the role for you! As a function of this role, you could be involved in working at heights, manual handling, the removal of waste and moving of furniture. This role is starting straight away. 

We are looking for Maintenance Operatives with:

  • Experience of working within the Maintenance, Property or Building sector
  • Experience of maintenance within a similar environment
  • Experience of basic carpentry 
  • Studying towards or a desire to study towards a trade qualification i.e., NVQ level 2
  • An understanding of the basic principles of health and safety requirements
  • Strong IT skills
  • A team player and a great communicator
  • Good organisation and timekeeping skills
  • A driving licence is desirable, though not essential 
  • A motivated individual with a passion for developing a career within building services

The estate is formed of both modern buildings and original buildings making the campus an interesting place to work as a Maintenance Assistant. Reporting to committed and driven Managers, you will feel inspired both by the impactful estate on which you are working, and by the leaders of your team.  This role is paid on an hourly basis and paid weekly. 

Working hours are Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:30.
